Some of Serge's highlights so far:
-
Finding the best cycling route can be quite a challenge. Do I follow Google, Garmin or my heart? Luckily, I ignored Google’s suggestion to plough through 28 kilometers of heavy Spanish sand.
-
Becoming lighter - in every way - has been a pleasant surprise. Returning items that I thought were indispensable but remained unused. Goodbye to unnecessary baggage, all thanks to a Scottish cyclist I met who carried 6 kilograms less.
-
Getting a ride from kind strangers who recognize the risks of going through a dangerous tunnel or along a highly congested highway, ensuring my safety.
-
Where have I seen these faces before? Suddenly I realize that I'm cycling through the training area of famous professional cyclists. Now I understand why they have chosen this location.
-
Being confronted with a campsite that was supposed to be open according to the internet but turned out to be closed. So, I ended up wild camping for a night, which turned out to be quite enjoyable. A beautiful sunrise and a strong coffee took care of the rest.

Receiving unexpected support on Polarsteps and social media has been invaluable. Despite cycling solo, I've discovered that I'm never truly alone! The emotional encouragement, practical advice, and the sense of belonging to a cherished community are making all the difference.
